Showtime: Six short plays coming March 22

Laura McHale Holland will be on hand opening night for Off The Page Readers Theater’s staged reading of six original short plays by local playwrights. In addition to Laura’s play Bankrupt, the other featured plays are Millennial Support by Samantha Alban, Metanoia by by Paul McCormick, Something Like Therapy by Harry Reid, From Mom to Eternity by Jean Wong, and Salsa Dancing by Natasha Nim.

Here are the dates:

March 22 and 23

Off The Page Readers Theater to produce Laura’s play Bankrupt

Laura McHale Holland’s one-act play Bankrupt was one of six winners in the Redwood Writers 2018 playwriting contest. All winning plays will be produced by Off the Page Readers Theater in March 2019.

Laura is thrilled her one-act play Bankrupt will be produced by Off the Page Readers Theater.

Other winning plays include Millennial Support by Samantha Alban, Metanoia by by Paul McCormick, Something Like Therapy by Harry Reid, From Mom to Eternity by Jean Wong, and Salsa Dancing by Natasha Nim. Here are the performance dates and locations:

March 22 and 23

In an interview with Sonoma West, Hilary Moore described readers theater as “acting from the shoulders up.” She went on to say that from the audience’s perspective, “It’s just five of us standing up there with our music stands and our scripts. There are no props. We’re in black – with a touch of color. But we read with expression and interpretation. It really makes the work come to life… Sometimes we even surprise the people who wrote the pieces.”

River Friends of the Library Readers Theatre features Laura’s play

River Friends of the Library Readers Theatre features Laura’s play

Laura’s latest short play, You’ll Be Sorry, is part of the River Friends of the Library Readers Theatre’s 2017 season. The play will be featured, along with other short plays by local writers, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. and Jan 28 at 1:30 p.m.

Performances will be at the Guerneville Library, 14107 Armstrong Woods Rd., in Guerneville. It’s a scenic town in a gorgeous part of the San Francisco Bay Area. Hope you can come!
